Zanna Markillie

This collection of paintings span over a decade. Mostly I am painting from the unknown, allowing the painting to paint itself. Many of them reflect an inner process that I was going through at the time - in a sense they represent myself. The series of paintings from 2012 have a raw and untamed quality, they are born out of energetic states in my body. They reflect my interest in embodiment, energy and movement. The paintings dated 2005-10 have a lighter quality where I was very much inspired by Abstract Expressionism, my experience of living in India and my spiritual explorations with plant medicine.
