I want to speak of fluidity and wetness, the we-sense, silk and sensuality. Threads of light, a strong-holding of belonging here. I want to speak of pleasure, the currants of power of body feeling. Undone by life touching. A meeting of matter, cold ocean of honey - a sensing - not understood. Rolling in. Head above water, body immersed, floating still and upright.... as the first sun flooded the sky. Consolidation of this moment that stretches, spreading outwards, and in, hearing this, here.

Mountains, peaking, up, roots pushing, down.

Skin, touching, responding.

The thrill of relationships that open in thin and thick places.

Deep folds, folding in – waves moving the ocean forwards, still – backwards into a void - feet first, foot led sense – can bring you here.

Great body of matter. Intra-active. Dependant and autonomous, skin to skin, we-field

Soft wobbly, flowering and fruiting, entanglement – entwined, embedded, every fold, fell, flower or flow – the swamp and the river.

Rest, sinking, softening, opening, fall, Soul origin is difference

Refuge

I hold the nectar

Deep in the ocean

Expanded

I am interested in mess, in contact, immersion and autonomy.

Effective action – active hope – acts of care and devotion: This matters.

Astrida Neimanis – ‘New Materialist Feminisms’

keep some worlds strange // never fully known. Water – shape-shifter, never fixed, never fully known.

Wet heart of a wild system.

Drenched in one another, material intimacies

Lively desires

Questions of time, we think it’s predictable, comforting – hydrological time – amplified uncertainties, all time is suspended in water, and different times are suspended together.

What are your commitments? What do you stand by? What relations do we want to foster, cultivate, pay attention to?

Cannot separate or transcend.

Body thinks through language – sky language, water language finger language

Materiality has it’s own intelligence.

Vickie Kerbie: Nature is cultural. We’re in the mud together

Acts of care and attention. Slowing down. Provoke a wider sense of relationships / belonging.

Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone ‘Active Hope’

“Active hope is a practice. Like Tai Chi or gardening, it is something we do rather than have. It is a process we can apply to any situation and it involves three Key steps. First we take a clear view of reality, second we identify what we hope for in terms of the direction we’d like things to move in or the values we’d like to see expressed, and third, we take steps to move ourselves and our situation in that direction.’

“ Don’t appologise for the sorrow, grief and rage you feel. It is a measure of your humanity and your maturity. It is a measure of your open heart, and as your heart breaks open there will be room for the world to heal’.

Tejal Shah : Artist: Between the Waves

Intimate issues – generous work. Haptic work. Explicit art. Queer ecology, interdependence, post-pornography, intersectionality.

‘whole earth touched and felt’ evoke this sensuality/ intimacy.

Fill the gap between things that don’t exist, halfway space between who you are and who you are being.

Hybrid creatures – animal-human – totally ourselves.

Body in pain = erotic power.

She works from the space of love, the space of non-resistance – vulnerable space – believing in something larger – certain images need to be made, shared, adored.

Embodied realised knowledge

Ontology of how things exist, non-dual philosophy – all categories collapse. Kinship system – we are already kin.

If you had nothing but yourself – what art would you make?

Focus on what connects us rather than differentiates us, work with your affective emotional world.
